Kinesiology & Physiotherapy FAQ
The following are typical questions we receive from our customers about our Kinesiology and physiotherapy services.
- What happens during my first visit?
First, Physical Assessment takes approx. 45 to 60 minutes to look at specific injury sites and areas of concern, while focusing on the health and strength of the entire body along with analyzing your physical health history.
- What technology do you use?
Imaging and scanning with GaitScan and using 3D foot scans of feet along with foam 3d casting.
- What do I need to have handy?
Bring yourself, a positive attitude with the right energy to invest in your own physical health; wear athletic or easy fitting clothing and shoes to move around in and also bring any doctor’s prescriptions and/or notes.
- Do I need a doctor’s referral?
If you want to access government benefits such as Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability (ODSP) or Third Party personal insurance, you need to provide a doctor’s prescription.
- How should I dress?
Everyday casual dress or athletic clothes; generally easy moving attire.
- How long will each treatment last?
Each treatment is approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length. Physical Assessments with scanning are approximately 45 to 60 minutes long.
- How many visits will I need?
For orthotics, custom shoes and compression wear, two appointment visits are necessary. The first one is for a physical assessments with scanning, casting and measuring the medical device. The second visit is necessary where the medical device is fitted and sized, and an exercise therapy plan is provided for instructions on home use.
- Is my therapist certified?
Therapists are fully registered as specialized RHPs (Registered Health Practitioners) under Health Canada and the Ontario Health Act, in order to protect public and private individual interests.
- Is physiotherapy for me?
Physiotherapy and kinesiology services are for everyone who needs help to increase function, decrease pain and discomfort, and to increase strength and physical condition levels.
- Can physiotherapy help disc problem?
Exercise and custom foot orthotics may help provide relief for disc problems.
- Are treatments painful?
Treatments are always designed to provide relief and increase strength and function. They mitigate pain but during or after some treatments or adjustments, you may experience slight discomfort. Your therapist will discuss this with you and monitor pain levels until they are lowered to zero.
- Who pays for the treatment?
Patients pay for services upon session completion and when medical devises are ordered and dispensed. Upon full payment insured benefits will be submitted by and paid back to you by the Insurer. For ODSP and OW patients payment is received upon approvals of quotes. Government agencies pay all costs and no payment by patient is required.
- What do I need to do after my treatments?
Relax but stay in motion and remember to re-fuel.
- What happens if my problems or the pains returns?
Call for appointment. Priority appointment are possible.
